Das neue PS3-System wird sich auf die Bereitstellung von Spielen und anderen Entertainment-Inhalten konzentrieren
Die Nutzer werden nicht in der Lage sein, andere Betriebssysteme (z.B. Linux) auf dem neuen PS3-System zu installieren.

Die neue PS3 wird von Werk aus mit der neuen PS3-Systemsoftware Version 3.00 ausgeliefert.
Die System-Software auf Version 3.00  wird auch am 1. September für die älteren PS3s Bereitgestellt.

BRAVIA ® Sync ™ Feature
Das neue PS3-System ist auch mit der BRAVIA ® Sync ™-Funktion kompatibel.
Durch den Anschluss des neuen PS3-Systems an einem BRAVIA Fernseher mit einem
HDMI-Kabel ist der Benutzer in der Lage mit Hilfe der TV-Fernbedienung das XMB der PS3
zu steuern. Als weitere Funktion gibt es das "System Standby", das das PS3-System
automatisch ausschaltet sobald der BRAVIA TV ausgeschaltet wird.
